some places feel like they know how to hold loneliness — not fix it, just hold it.

bliNK came from a walk I took through one of my go-to parks, late in the day, sky bruised with light.

the park sits high on a hill, with quiet paths and a wide view of the New York harbor and distant skyline. beside it, the Green-Wood Cemetery spreads out like a hidden garden of stone and trees, peaceful, full of names.

I was alone, but not in a bad way. sometimes lonely is better than feeling like you don’t belong anywhere or with anyone.

I was thinking about the spaces between people and things — how close they feel sometimes. and how hard they are to hold.

I didn’t write it to answer anything. just to follow the thread. it’s out now, if you want to hear where it led.

  1. True. It’s better to be by yourself than feel alone while surrounded by people. Hope you’re doing well ❤️

    1. o, thank you, I don’t know. I do notice a lot of things—though abuela says too many things, and none of them are ever where I left them.

Some places really do cradle the quiet ache of loneliness, no fixing, just holding. I love the track… truly wonderful. Trust that even in moments of solitude, God is with us, bringing peace and hope.

  4. “sometimes lonely is better…”
that sense of belonging in it’s genuineness isn’t always easy to find or feel …
and for some … they search for it with all sincerity and still don’t find it sincerely… indeed, sometimes lonely is better …

really so great to hear you , Cookie….🤍💫

  5. Alone and lonely is better than being with someone or in a roomful of people where I feel lonely and alone. In a world full of chaos, cemeteries can offer natural beauty and a contemplative reprieve. Thank you for your beautiful song and share.

  6. Solitude can be really comforting. But even real loneliness isn’t always a bad thing. Places can feel much like home.

  7. Your comment about “the spaces between people and things” made me think of the silence between the notes. As a musician, you understand. Places that “hold loneliness” are sacred spaces, wherever and however they show up. Thank you for the beautiful essay and song. 🕊️

  10. It always surprises me that friends, only seen once in a while, turn up out of the blue at the times you could do with some quality, involving much needed heartfelt exchanges. Those life long or recent friendship treasures that are fantastic company. Even though meeting up can be months apart. Maybe years at times.

I recently had a nurse colleague turn up with her daughter, who is learning guitar. We spent a fair few hours playing different chords and making up some little songs. Also, looked at how to record on GarageBand. Also, I recently bought the Solfeggio 9 tuning forks for self sound therapy and we were experimenting with those too. And some singing bowls and percussion. They loved ‘The Den’ vibe and the various inclusions of music, books, aromatherapy, etc. It was great to chat and have music as the therapy that brought it all together holistically.

I like, no….love being alone, but sometimes there’s a need for that bit of social and conversational exchange with others. Loneliness can lead to a dreadful self state in life. Living in status quo with loneliness isn’t healthy. However. Being alone and both applying enjoyable pastimes to life and reflecting positively on the holistic therapy those interests can bring can be a very comforting lifestyle. As you say when describing how music, skateboarding, working with older people, these blogs and group therapy are so important in your life. You contribute amazingly to your own and others’ lives cookie. Fair exchange? That’s a priceless gift.

Lovely blog again with those gorgeous poetical descriptive words you write. And by the way….your new songs are amazing.

Sorry for the long winded comment cookie. But you know what I’m like at times. Cheers. All the best. 💫

      1. Always admire your songwriting cookie. Such a unique vibe going on. And yes, opening up lyrically, and wearing your heart on your sleeve, can be intense. But worth every moment in getting songs to be realised as little treasures that tell your life’s story….and in such a fantastic way for us all.

All the best cookie. Thank you too 💫
