even though I’m not around much these days, I still stop by now and then, looking through the windows you all open onto your lives.

I see the beautiful new songs you’re sharing, the poetry and videos, the photographs from trips and quiet everyday places. glimpses of lives so different from the one I’m leading right now. and somehow, they give me hope. more than I know how to say.

I’m still following the program the doctors set up for me. addiction and depression aren’t things I want to say too much about, and I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. it’s just the work of staying here, getting through a day, and then another.

I’ve been making up new songs lately, and they’ve been surprising me. after everything that’s happened this year, I expected the hard and sad stuff to find its way into the music. I thought that might be all there was to hear. but something else keeps coming through, as if some part of me knows there’s more here than just the hard parts.

most of the time, I’m not sure what the songs are about. maybe they’re about a soul weary from trying to make sense of things, but still wondering.

I’m still asking questions of my life. I’m still noticing beauty, still trying to find the words and sounds for what I feel. and I want so badly to believe in love, even as I turn it over in my hands, looking at all the ways it might hurt.

I’ve learned a lot this year. that I don’t have to understand everything before I can let myself experience it. that I can stand in the warmth of a day without needing to make peace with the winter that will follow. that I can love someone without asking forever to make me a promise. and that I can watch the water disappear and let it go, even if I never know where it went.

maybe I’ll never quite get the hang of it. and maybe that isn’t the point. I’m still here, still feeling my way through, and letting life surprise me.

thank you for sharing your worlds with me. you may not know it, but through those little windows, you keep the light coming in.

  1. Oh Cookie, I soooooo happy to hear from you! I’ve missed you a lot and appreciate you taking time to update us.

You write so beautifully and create such a picture and feeling of honest and beautiful poetry that touches my heart. I’m glad you’re finding your way through music and moment to moment experiences!

I’ll always keep my light on for you! Just know, I remember those days ( not the exact ones you talk about but the ones that sent me into fear and worry) and now they live in a place that I can coexist with them and sometimes barely recall the crippling grip that had on me.

Hugs and love and so happy you updated us!

  2. I love to have you on my little window too 💖, for you inspire more than you will ever know. What I love the most about reading your posts is the underlaying level of awareness you convey (typical of an “old” soul) while telling about life. This is my takeaway of truth from your message today: “I’m still here, still feeling my way through, and letting life surprise me.” How important is that?! Thank you for being you! Happy to read from you and honored to share my life journey with you, Cookie! Appreciate you! Sending light, blessings, and love to you, dear friend ✨🙏💖🍂🌈

  3. Cookie, it’s wonderful to read an update from you. Music and art can be amazing for expressing ourselves or sometimes a certain song just hits the spot at the right time. That is so true that you don’t have to understand or make sense of everything to be able to experience & feel it. It’s wonderful that seeing windows into others’ lives keeps the light coming in. I hope you have a pleasant day. Been thinking of you!

  4. Hi cookie.

So good to read this. I listened to your two albums about a week ago. Both of them so strong. It was nice to sit back and listen to them both in totality again. Melodically and lyrically so, so good. It got me thinking about your last year and how you have grown to be much stronger too. And I really smiled when you mentioned over your last two messages here on WP that the songs are beginning to work their magic again.

They are in your soul cookie, and you mentioning about being surprised about the darkness not materialising in their development? I’m not. Your soul is telling you truth. Inherently you have built your positivity and it is rising to the surface and your lyrics are probably telling you the realities of your journey. It may be that it is probably why you think they are so tangled because you don’t realise how far you have come.

That’s what we do as songwriters. Subliminally, or actually probably with conscious intentions, we write words that mean so much to us at the time.

So much in this latest update cookie. Read it twice. I’m so glad that your friends here on WP are assisting your positivity too. I love this platform for what it brings. There is wholesomeness in its core. And of course, there are little insights and avenues from others that can guide us to lots of very interesting and wonderful new themes.

Look after yourself cookie. Good fortune in all your dreams. And it’s good to see you are still the star you are. 💫✨
