when I was a little kid, I wrote a letter to my favorite TV show, Scooby Doo. I told them they should do an episode where the monster turns out to be real.

I’m grown up now (pretty much), and I still know that monsters are real. and that when you’re fighting one, it’s really hard in the process not to turn into one.

someone said, maybe Tennessee Williams did, it was something like, โ€œIf I got rid of my demons, Iโ€™d lose my angels.โ€

the letting go part is hard for me. it’s a step-at-a-time kind of thing, if you know what I mean.

the thing I’m figuring out as I go is, making songs is all about letting go. it’s a process of letting go of outcomes.

every song knows what it came to do. what they really want for me is to follow where they go.

if you haven’t noticed, there’s a monster in here:

  1. The monsters are real, man. I think thatโ€™s why I like to write about them. Itโ€™s like embracing the inner demons. Iโ€™m going to listen to your song now. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

  3. Monsters! A fair few books exist in the Summersโ€™ house re: monsters. I wrote a blog about them a fair few years back and it now lies in โ€˜Draftโ€™โ€ฆ.hidden away for a few years. Maybe they should be reposted out in the open where they can be seen. As said before, the Bandcamp album songs are wonderful listens cookie. You have great songwriting abilities. Cheers and good fortune for producing more cookie driven tunes and lyrical content.

  5. You are incredibly deep and talented. I love this so much. :,) The sound reminds me a little bit of a 90’s song – it carries a similar vibe to it.
Recently, I had to cut things off with someone who was a negative force in my life. It feels empty without them, but I don’t think I’d be able to live a good life with them always there.
There’s something so atmospheric and bittersweet about this song. Love it!

  6. hi Sara. a negative force, that’s really what it comes down to, whatever form it takes. usually I think it looks or feels pretty good (at first). that’s the most monstrous part. you’re lovely to say all these kind things and share how you feel. x
