I never know what to say after someone says, ‘your music is beautiful,’ except to agree with them. for me, beauty is an end of conversation.

the beginning is different: this is when you have to be suspicious of your best lines, your best melodies, tell the unusual from the boring.

beginning kills.

but beginning also produces all the discoveries. that’s when you start to say the things you didn’t know you knew or could say (which could sound beautiful to someone).

only then your song has a chance of being interesting and alive against doubts.

  3. Well said. Beauty isn’t restricted to physical beauty. There’s beauty in everything.

  4. I suppose that the beginning of the song is ‘explanatory’. Writing a verse of situation inclusions. What follows are involved emotions. Or wonderful descriptions. Those tap into the ‘beautiful’ nature that response to emotions/descriptions can bring to the writer and the listener. A great melody is the icing on the cake. All the best cookie and good fortune in all your dreams for the new year.

      1. When you get a ‘beautiful’ response for your songs cookie, it brings your hoped for/wished for outcomes to the song into a realised status. That’s a nice feeling.
