you can take a walk through East New York, or Navy Hill, or Greenwood Heights, and one person will think these are really frightening, dangerous places and rush right out of there.

and someone else will take their time and explore the history of those neighborhoods, sample the unusual foods and sounds on the streets, and notice all the cool-looking people passing by.

I think songs are kind of like that. different people hear a song in different ways.

I wonder if people would notice me if I disappeared. but when I’m writing I don’t wonder about their experiences or connections to the places, people, or things that I write about. I don’t make songs from anyone’s viewpoint but my own.

I’m just writing songs about how I feel or about how people I know feel.

this song is a riff on the poem girls by Emily Moore. i just made it about a girl I know and how she makes me feel.

  2. It’s a great explanation on how you write. Vocals take on a different emphasis when you can sing with these viewpoints inherent. Again, I do like your vocal phrasing and timing amongst the guitar notes on this song. Brilliant. All the best.

  3. Different reactions and perspectives are interesting to observe. Life is more fun and meaningful when we take our time and explore and people watching is the best! Love your message about making art/creating for ourselves, first. πŸ™ŒπŸ» Sweet and soothing song, cookie.
