you can take a walk through East New York, or Navy Hill, or Greenwood Heights, and one person will think these are really frightening, dangerous places and rush right out of there.
and someone else will take their time and explore the history of those neighborhoods, sample the unusual foods and sounds on the streets, and notice all the cool-looking people passing by.
I think songs are kind of like that. different people hear a song in different ways.
I wonder if people would notice me if I disappeared. but when I’m writing I don’t wonder about their experiences or connections to the places, people, or things that I write about. I don’t make songs from anyone’s viewpoint but my own.
Iβm just writing songs about how I feel or about how people I know feel.
this song is a riff on the poem girls by Emily Moore. i just made it about a girl I know and how she makes me feel.
